Movie Soundtrack Released 1996, Capitol Records
The primary disadvantage of being employed is that my boss does not allow me to sleep or to watch movies for a full eight hours of the day, five days a week. There seems no way around the sleeping rule, but I have found that a good movie soundtrack can be nearly as good as watching a movie. And I am allowed to listen to music while I work. The Trainspotting soundtrack is one that can take you through every emotion of the movie. From the drugged haze of "Nightclubbing" and "A Final Hit" to the great sing-along sings like "Lust For Life" and "Perfect Day", this is a well-assembled and engaging album. It is worth a concentrated, attentive listen, and also makes great ambient music for a party or just to read a good book. My glowing review of this collection surprises me. You see, a lot of this is club music and European-style techno. I hate techno. But somehow, thye managed to assemble a collection of techno songs that have the desired effect of making you want to dance, without the usual side effects of headaches and nausea. As a final note, if you enjoy playing Dope Wars, you need to have this cd. I have earned all my highest scores while listening to this. |
