Holy cow!

I’ve been having the craziest week ever.  About a week ago I got linked somewhere.  I’m not sure where all I’ve been linked, but I got 45,000 hits in one day.  And I’ve been averaging about 5000 per day since then.  That used to be about the number of hits I got in a year.  I’ve had a total of 92,000 in the last 7 days and almost 100,000 in the last 30 days.

Most of this traffic by far is my food site.  Then when I thought that it was starting to slow down, I got an email from BBC Radio.  I was interviewed about the site on BBC Five Live on Saturday.  Then today I got an email and a phone call from BBC in Northern Ireland, wanting to interview me.  It’s crazy!

I’ve been getting a flood of fan mail and hate mail.  It seems that Americans love me, the English love me, and the Scottish want to kill me.  So no change from what I’ve experienced living here.  I’ve been getting so much mail that I actually had to change my contact email address for this site.  I’ve changed it to .

The new address will allow me to actually answer my emails from my friends and family by putting the email from strangers into a separate place.  So my friends and family should continue to use the email address you have been using.

I don’t know how I feel about all of this popularity.  It is flattering and exciting, since I’d love any chance to write for a living instead of doing medical coding.  But it is also stressful.  I have always hated being stared at and judged.  At least I’m being judged for my words and ideas so far.  I guess I don’t mind the radio inerviews, because at least it isn’t television.

  1. Obviously you don’t know me and as strange as this sounds I stumbled across your drawings by googling “Mr. Rogers”, anyway, your drawings made me laugh and I wanted you to know. Your drawings remind me of this other site I stumbled upon somehow a long time ago, toothpastefordinner.com That guy does humorous drawings similar to yours. It’s funny how something so simple can make people laugh…and how I can take a simple comment and turn it into a novel.

  2. *waves* I found your site through a friend’s livejournal posting about British foods. They were lamenting/making fun of the poor Americans with no custard. It was a joke but I have quite fallen in love with your site and yeah I’m American so I guess that’s not an oddity.

Good luck and keep posting. ^_^

  3. I found you through Noodlepie.typepad.com

Lived in London for three months and thought all those crazy Britishisms were so funny. I do love the pies and Cornish pasties though! Oh, and have you found any of the Walker’s Chicken Tikka Masala crisps? That’s fusion for ya.

  4. I got to your food site through StumbleUpon, the Mozilla Firefox thing. That’s probably where all the traffic’s coming from. It was pretty awesome, since I love Harry Potter and have always wondered what the food the characters were eating was like. Thanks! Oh, and as a proud Canadian, Smarties are way better than M&Ms!!!!

  6. I also found you via StumbleUpon, which lead me first to your food page.

I’m an American living in Holland, and I’m surrounded by lots of British expats here, so I got quite a giggle out of your page. Perhaps I’ll do one of weird Dutchie foods. :c)
